Overview
A tool designed to foster emotional well-being, self-awareness, and human connection
Equanimity is a mobile app designed to support emotional resilience and anxiety management through personalized, AI-driven daily check-ins. As founder and lead product designer, I created an experience that helps users tune into their emotional states, explore how stress shows up in their bodies, and receive guided next steps for emotional support. The app integrates mood tracking, journaling, mindfulness resources, and gentle behavioral nudges rooted in trauma-informed UX principles.
Amid a growing demand for mental wellness tools that go beyond meditation apps, I saw a gap: many users wanted an emotional outlet that was lightweight, private, and adaptive — not another mood tracker or therapy substitute. Equanimity was built to meet users where they are emotionally and guide them without judgment.

My Goals
My goals centered and grew from the basic need to create a mobile-first tool that supports anxiety management and emotional clarity without clinical overwhelm in order to:
• Help users build a regular emotional check-in habit that is frictionless and feels like support, not homework
• Design an AI companion that responds with insight, empathy, and actionable guidance based on emotional input
• Integrate body-awareness and journaling prompts to promote mind-body connection
• Offer optional provider integration to support therapy, coaching, or wellness accountability models
Responsibilities
As the founder and lead product designer, I owned the entire product development process — from research and strategy to UX/UI design and prototyping. I:
• Conducted user interviews to understand emotional check-in habits, journaling resistance, and accessibility needs
• Designed a frictionless daily check-in system that starts with emotion selection, body awareness, and a short journal entry
• Built an AI companion flow that responds to user input with personalized reflections, journaling prompts, and actionable suggestions like breathwork or rest
• Integrated optional provider sharing to support therapeutic use cases
• Prototyped the entire mobile flow in Figma and created interaction models for future AI training
Solutions
• Used multiple-choice emotion tags and freeform prompts to meet users at different cognitive and emotional energy levels
• Built modular components (e.g. mood, body, journaling, AI response) to keep interactions short and emotionally meaningful
• Added companion voice responses and reflection summaries to create a sense of being seen and supported
• Designed for mobile-first accessibility, including large tap targets, simple language, and optionality at every stage
Impact
Equanimity now offers a complete high-fidelity prototype for mobile, ready for testing, refinement, and early investor conversations. The app demonstrates a unique intersection of emotional intelligence, AI responsiveness, and product design that centers user safety and ease. Feedback from early testers has highlighted the emotional accuracy and resonance of the AI companion's responses — helping users feel less alone in their daily mental health journey.
