Project Overview

TIME needed a centralized system to upload, tag, and manage internal and external video assets. I led the UX strategy and interface design for a web-based video management tool used across departments, ensuring editorial teams could focus on storytelling—not tech hurdles.

The Problem

Video uploads were disjointed and inconsistent across departments, creating friction for teams and risk for the brand. TIME needed a streamlined, user-friendly interface that prioritized efficiency, clarity, and metadata consistency.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Translated complex editorial workflows into clean UI

  • Led cross-functional alignment with developers, editors, and PMs

  • Ran usability testing with internal teams

  • Created design system patterns for future product extensions

The Goal

To build a seamless and scalable internal platform for managing video uploads, descriptions, and tagging—while aligning with existing brand systems and timelines.

Key Features

1. Guided Upload Flow

Step-by-step interface that ensures metadata consistency and intuitive navigation, even for non-technical users.

My contribution: Created task-focused wireframes, validation triggers, and progress indicators.

2. Video Preview & Editing

Teams could preview video uploads, edit tags, and track publish status in one place.

My contribution: Designed component-based layouts to support varying video formats and durations.

3. Dashboard for Quick Access

A centralized dashboard allowed users to see upload history, tag frequency, and status.

My contribution: Focused on visual hierarchy and prioritized recent activity for editorial use cases.

Outcomes and Next Steps
